Stars Are Not Born They Are Created

There’s something creepy about our endless fascination with the children of celebrities. We’re just curious as hell to see how those super-star genes mix together, and what they will finally produce. Deep down we all believe that these kids are going to grow up to be someone with infinite talent and influence.

Some people have literally been waiting for ages to see Frances Bean grow up, like her adulthood would be a time when she became Nirvana, or Hole or something entirely different but equally awesome. Instead, when she hit her 18th birthday Frances Bean inherited 37% of her father’s estate, bought herself a house and remained as private as ever.

The question is, what exactly were we expecting to happen? In an interview Francis explained, “I’m famous by default. I came out of the womb, and people wanted to know who I was because of my parents.” And when questioned about all the media attention that follows her every move, “These people are fascinated by me, but I haven’t done anything yet. . . . People need to wait until I’ve done something valid with my life,” she told Harper’s Bazaar.

If you were big into Hole or Nirvana you almost can’t help yourself but be curious about Frances. Hell, even if you weren’t into Hole or Nirvana you’re probably curious about her. This means that Frances is likely to remain famous by default for most of her life. One can’t help wonder wether that’s a blessing or a curse.
